Speaker 1:

I just want to reiterate it doesn't cut copper, it doesn't cut a piece of three co-. When I'm saying it doesn't cut it, it stalls out, does not cut it. It's not a battery thing, it's not, there's no way. It's a weight thing, there's no way. I'm just. I refuse to believe that Boom, and we are recording.

Speaker 1:

Did you get a new cup of coffee again? Oh, fresh cup. That's two episodes in a row, or just starting out with a fresh cup, fresh pour. You want to hear how it drinks? No, yeah, some ASMR there. I talked over your drinking. Sorry, you're slurping. I'm telling you that.

Speaker 1:

Nespresso dude. I love that machine so much I can under them, though I get the boys coming home for Thanksgiving, right, and you know I put the coffee pot away, the regular one. That's not a bad thing. No, I'm worried. I'm thinking I'm going to put the Nespresso away when they come home and bring the coffee pot back. $700 worth of Nespresso, yeah, because that's the first thing.

Speaker 1:

I'm not trying to be cheap. The first thing that popped in my head the other day was like oh, that's right, they're coming in like a week. Oh crap, oh crap. Do I put the coffee away? Or I'm not trying to be cheap either. Honey, hide the good stuff, I know, that's just it is. It takes. I'll forget to order and then I'll be out and then I'll be like, no, I have to wait for coffee to brew. What the hell. And it's gross. I know it does start Now, I'm such a snob, I'm such a friggin snob. Boom jeez. I know. I tell people all the time because, it's true, I drink way less coffee now because the coffee I drink is so much better. That's good, it is so much better, 100%. I, like I said I switched to that Black Rifle coffee subscription because I was buying some and you, you know, you gave me someone. I was out there and that's the kind you gave me was awesome, I remember it was. Though that was the vintage booze. It's just a really mild, mellow, super tasty. So that's that's my go to. I get two bags, two pounds of every 21 days.

Speaker 1:

You have a D need like well, you're only doing the Nespresso on the shop. So you're really, really drinking Nespresso. Yeah, a couple, what? A couple? Times a week maybe. Well, every, generally every morning, except record, record mornings, we're doing it in the, in the house, with the Tara Cafe. Yeah, so Dylan and I run a double cappuccino. You can your cappuccino Basically.

Speaker 1:

Wow, if you travel, if anybody listening travels with Andy, you drink cappuccinos all day because that's what you drink, that's what you drink, and so that's what I end up drinking. I like cappuccino, but every time we travel together I'm like, yeah, I guess I'm getting a cappuccino because it's so good and Andy just ordered one, so old man, so we've been doing the. This Tara Cafe will steam your milk, right, so I don't. I haven't been doing milk for a couple years now. Yeah, because you're a, but I use a cow. Yeah, yeah, not really I love cheese. I'll eat all the cheese you got. I'm just kidding. But we've been using premier protein, like the little, like a little little bottle of protein drink. Yeah, there you go. Okay, there's people that are. They're only listening. See, that's the incentive to to, to watch our video, to watch our podcast as you get, to see what Andy's held up and we're not going to tell you. We're not going to tell you what it was. Yeah, you have to go to YouTube Top secret, but anyway, I do that in with. Basically it ends up being two shots of espresso, of the black rifle espresso, and the premier protein, it steamed and froth to a perfection, and I do one of those walking out the door, and Dylan does one walking out the door to go to school, and, oh my god. So we basically make two cups a day. You know what I'm most days of the week. You know I'm going to listen to this episode while I'm driving the van, yeah, and you know I'm going to be the. I'm going to be like pulling over to the nearest coffee shop somewhere. I'll be like is this going to make me want to be like, oh, I need a cappuccino. Oh, man, okay, so that's not what we were going to talk about today, though I wanted to ask you a question, and I'm just going to put this out there and we're going to go right into it.

Speaker 1:

You know the M12 fuel portaban? Yeah, I do, okay, been off for a couple years now, I think. Yeah, something like that. It's got like the two and a half inch cut or something. It was a big improvement over their original M12. The original M12 seemed like you couldn't kill it, although it wasn't very powerful. You know Right, could only cut like one inch by percent, like that. Yeah, yeah, I thought the M12 fuel portaban was like a cool improvement.

Speaker 1:

There's one thing I hate about it early on, right away, was the fact that it's got that new modern drive system where, like, you can't Start it on a material, you have to like get the blade going before you hit the material. It's kind of annoying, but that's where this brushless stuff has gone. I don't know why that is. Is what, yeah, something to do with torque start? Yeah, like it can't start under a load, which I get, yeah, so it doesn't like hurt but you or something I don't know. Anyway, it's too sensitive, I would say.

Speaker 1:

Some people say I'm too sensitive, the I can't eat, and so something happened to mine and it's not obvious, all of a sudden, and I didn't notice it because I don't use it every day, but I use it quite often. It was hanging in my van, it was my, I grab it easily and use it. You know, on pretty much every job, large install stuff like that it doesn't cut, it won't even cut piece of three-quarter inch copper now, like it just straight up, doesn't have power. It doesn't matter what battery I put in, I promise you. It doesn't matter what battery put in, because I have like 20m, 12 batteries they're all the 4.0 or bigger, and I've charged every one of them Just like there's. My batteries are bad. What you know it's the friggin tool won't even cut copper. It's so annoying to have this thing just all of a sudden not work and I don't have an explanation whatsoever.

Speaker 1:

I agree and and you mentioned it when you were out here when we were working on the boiler project that you're like just does it just seem like it's gotten weaker? Yeah, and, and I feel like, yes, there are times when I'm using that saw and I'm like it should do this faster or it should not be doing this. And I and I got a I Question and we were just talking about this before we started recording this morning Is the blade that came on that saw when it was new Different than what I purchased for a replacement blade? And I got to thinking about that going. Is that is that where the torque and the power and the Cut speed changed? Did I have like a different blade on it? To start with? That was like an extreme blade and now we don't. Well, I don't want to be dramatic Warrants it, but could you imagine there being such a difference in blades that a tool would or would not perform With with one blade or another that both fit the tool like. I can't imagine that being the case, to be completely honest, yeah, I. So I say that I think that it could be on the basis that, like we were talking, I bought a new deep-cut portaband yeah, I'm 18.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know, pretty pretty nice, big, big, big. Yeah, I have one. Yeah, and you probably have a nicer version of what I have. I haven't the original. I Don't know what, what model. I don't any right off top my head, I don't know what model it is.

Speaker 1:

It came with a Extreme metal. Yeah, thick, it's extreme metal, yeah, yeah, the first couple of things I cut was in the shop Scrap and copper, just gotten some pipe up to throw in the recycle bin, yep, and I was like holy crap, this thing is like insane. Well, it's a powerful tool, but the blade is. It is, yeah, absolutely Right and. But it made me think about that and what I need to order this blade for everything else. But I don't know that that thick metal blade would actually run. No, that's what, that's what I have. I have a pack of those and I put a new blade on. That's what I've ran on that tool since I got it Right, I promise you. That's what I guess.

Speaker 1:

I guess what I'm saying is is that if, if that saw came with the thin metal blade like, let's say it was a dual-pitch thin metal blade and You're running something that's a more aggressive blade, it's gonna have less power to pull big teeth through material. I don't know, I'm just saying maybe the combination part, and it's made me think that I need to order a few different blades for it and see if something works better for what we do, because I do, go God, I wish it. It's just a little underpowered and again, it's a 12 volt tool. Yeah Well, I think the benchmark should be the most aggressive and then every other blade should perform even at a higher level, in my opinion. Right, I have been using the extreme metal cutting blades on mine since they came out, which is before this saw, and then when this saw came out, that's the blade I put on it, because I know that those blades have lasted me longer than blades previous and they do cut things better.

Speaker 1:

Like I use my Portaban for demo all the time, right, like just cutting out old piping, and just because I like it's a control, it's like a kind of a controlled cut, in a sense right, and versus a resip, right. Anyway, the, I just want to reiterate it doesn't cut copper, it doesn't cut a piece of three. When I'm saying it doesn't cut it, it stalls out, does not cut it. It's not a battery thing, it's not, there's no way. It's a blade thing, there's no way.

Speaker 1:

I'm just, I refuse to believe that Maybe I'm just being bullheaded, but it's, there's something up with the tool. I'm going to start asking around. I really do. I want people listening to this to tell me if you have this tool, tell me if this thing has like died out on you, like really think about it. If it's, you'll know, because if it did what mine did, it won't. I can't even cut a piece of three, I can't cut anything with it. I'm just putting that that way, you know.

Speaker 1:

So this, this is interesting and I and I I don't know, I mean, if we're going to count like pieces of Milwaukee stuff that I've got in five vans or whatever. Now it's a lot. And I got to a point over the last couple of years where I was like, oh, I'll just guess that one's dead, I'm going to go buy another one, and I and I forgot that most of this stuff does have a warranty, right, okay, because I just never used it. And recently I've started look, really, you know, key in it on that and been like, is this actually still covered? Because I don't know why would I throw it away if it's, you know, still covered in a warranty. And we've sent a few things back and I've been pleasantly surprised how quick a turnaround it is and and whatnot, getting things back. We've had a couple of things that were repaired, which I was kind of surprised that they didn't just be like here's a new one, but I get it, you know, hey, if it's, if it's something that they can repair, then they're going to repair it, but it's, it's been.

Speaker 1:

It's kind of interesting that, like, say, there's been a few things that I've been like, hey, okay, I wish I would have not thrown the other two or those away that I've chucked, you know, because I was like I just go buy another one. And let me ask you this though I know you have that nice band saw and that's going to be super useful for you, because you guys do a lot of larger diameter pipe. I'm surprised you didn't have it before. To be honest with you, it's a really nice quartered one, right, yeah, but I mean the cordless it's really. It's a solid tool. Mine is old, so it's not. It is brushless, but it's like the OG deep cut that they came out with probably like five, six or more years ago, and mine's beat to hell. I don't carry it on my van because I don't need it. It's big, yeah, it's big. I don't need it on a regular daily basis. You're going to love that tool.

Speaker 1:

But cutting the scrap I know you and I have talked about this personally. I'm going to put it out there for people to listen on the podcast. I don't know how. After 25 years, I've never tried this before.

Speaker 1:

But if you have a metal cutting circular saw or a circular saw with a metal cutting blade on it, that's you know, because they make nice blades. Now, these Cermet teeth blades, it's like ceramic and, um, what's the uh, what's the like? Carbide, that's a, it's a mix of that's what the Cermet is. I mean these things are like they cut real cool and fast and clean and so Well, anyway, metal cutting blade or metal cutting saws, uh, circular saws. What I've been using just a battery circular saw for cutting metal to cut up my copper is like cut. I mean, it takes like half the amount of time, like it's that much faster, wow.

Speaker 1:

So it is nice to have the, the portaband, for sure. In fact it's probably more. It's still necessary because the metal circular saws. I'm going to cut everything where and how you want it to right, it's going to jam up or you can't fit it on something, but uh, cause we're not cutting, just like stock. It's like you know, irregular shaped pieces and things like that. But, yeah, I swear by it.

Speaker 1:

So, if you're listening, you haven't thought about that. I never thought about it until I tried it one day. I'm like, holy crap, why have I been doing it with a portaband all these years? What a waste of time, you know. Anyway. Yeah Well, yeah, tool talk. I, I don't know. Do you have any other tools, though, that have?

Speaker 1:

Like, I'm looking for an update on that M12 tubing cutter, and they shouldn't. This isn't an M12 commercial, first of all, I just bashed the one. So it's you know, right, um, I'd like the tubing cutter to get updated. I think that, um, larger diameter is past due. They should be, and it's going to be an expensive tool. Look, they're not going to sell a tubing power, tubing cutter like that that cuts up, you know, up to two inch and it's I mean, it's not going to be a 130 bucks or 150 bucks or whatever this thing, that it's going to be $600. And I don't care, that's fine. I would be pretty excited about a half through inch and a quarter model. Um inch and a quarter would be pretty cool. Yeah, just because that's what our, those four sizes are our primary, like almost every install. Well, and they, they have that Inox cutter which is over in Europe which is made for um small diameter steel pipe. Yeah, why aren't they bringing that to the U? S for conduit and for, you know, I'm not sure it's just basically as far as I would. I'm guessing on this, but yeah, it's probably just a stronger motor with heavier springs in it. Like I don't know Different cutting wheel.

Speaker 1:

I used to work with, uh, uh, you know, in a shop that had electricians, yeah, and a lot of those guys cut conduit with a rigid wheel cutter. That was how they did it. They'd rame it out and it was just super clean and and you know, whatever Lucky Most guys I worked with used a freaking Panasonic circular sound and just about ready, though they don't tell you. So then you don't have your earplugs. Oh my God. Well, that's. The other benefit to those new blades is they're not as loud. Do you know that? I mean, they're still loud, but not still not like I just banging around in the studio, just punch me, will you just punch you? No, they're still loud, but they're not as bad. All right, dude, let's stop. Come on, let's kill it. Let's Come on, let's kill it.
